Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Announced, coming October 25th 2019

Activision unveils the next chapter in the Call of Duty series, with the announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Launching October 25th 2019 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Prepare to go dark as the popular first person shooter series Call of Duty returns later this year with the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on October 25th 2019. This new entry in the series is a re-imagining of the 2007 classic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that was one of the most popular FPS games of all times. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been rebuilt from the ground up and players will be thrown into a global conflict that takes them around the world. Unlike last year's Call of Duty Black Ops 4, the next COD will also include a Single Player experience that offers a unified narrative experience. As with all COD games it'll also include a number of Multiplayer modes, plus a new cooperative gameplay experience (perhaps a new type of Zombies mode?).

Infinity Ward's Co-Studio Head, Dave Stohl spoke a little about the next chapter in the series:

“This is an all-new Modern Warfare re-imagined in every way. We are creating an emotionally charged experience that’s inspired by the headlines in the world today, where the rules are grey and battle lines are blurred. Players will join a varied cast of international special forces and freedom fighters in gripping and heart-pounding missions through iconic European cities and volatile expanses of the Middle East. It’s intense, it’s exciting, and we can’t wait for our fans to play this October.”

Meanwhile the games Creative Director Patrick Kelly revealed that the game would not include a Season Pass this time around, and all players would get the same content post-launch for free:

“Every design decision has been made with our players in mind. With the launch of Modern Warfare, we’re taking steps to unite the community. First, we plan for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support. Second, we’re eliminating the traditional season pass, so that we can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players. This is just the beginning – there’s much more to come.”

Additionally, the game will feature a brand new engine that offers an immersive and photo-realistic experience. This new technology will include a physically-based material system allowing for state of the art photogrammetry, a new hybrid tile based streaming system, new PBR decal rendering system, world volumetric lighting, 4K HDR, DirectX Raytracing (PC) and more!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is launching on October 25th 2019.
