Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Choices you make can change the world around you

Travel to Ancient Greece next week with the open world of Assassin's Creed Odyssey which launches on October 5th (or 2nd with Gold/Ultimate). Learn more about the choices you make and how they shape the world.

The Assassin's Creed series has been around for over 10 years, and we've seen quite a few titles in the franchise leap forward in terms of gameplay, with ship combat, RPG mechanics and more being brought into the fray. For Assassin's Creed Odyssey we'll get even more gameplay than before with a world that's the largest in the series yet. In addition to the large open world of Greece that players will explore we also get other additions such as the brand new "dialogue" and choices system that has been seen in many other RPG/Narrative driven games. Choice plays a large part of Odyssey and depending on the decisions you make it can impact your story and the way you play, for example if you'd prefer to take on a mission stealthily you may make it back without trouble, but if you get spotted things may end differently.

Thanks to a brand new gameplay video from Ubisoft we get a look at an early mission that explains how the choices you make impact the world around you. What will your story be?

The dialogue system will allow players to pick a unique path for their character, whether that's being friendly to everyone you meet or if you decide to ruin the lives of everyone around you. You'll also be able to pick from two characters in the story, as you play as either Alexios or Kassandra. Though it will not matter too much on which one you pick as the story will remain the same regardless (barring any choices you may make).

Naval Battles will provide more depth

Another aspect of Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be in the Naval combat, which we've seen in previous games such as Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag and last year's Assasin's Creed Origins, but in Odyssey the gameplay will be expanded even further. This time around you'll be able to recruit crew and depending on their rarity the ships you command will get new abilities that can assist you on the seas. After you sending ships crashing down to the watery grave below you can venture to the depths in order to plunder treasure, but be aware of dangerous creatures that will try to stop you from getting back to the surface as the waters are filled with danger.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey launches next week on October 5th (or October 2nd if you get the Gold or Ultimate Editions). You can pre-order any version of the game today to get bonuses including the extra mission "The Blind King". If you're not sure which version of the game to buy you can take a look at our Version Comparison Guide to see which version is best for you.
